Ashamed To Open Carry A Weapon

With minor exceptions Ohio law allows any citizen to openly carry a gun, so why the political pressure for conceal carry (CCW) laws?
Rationale 1. To protect a law abiding citizen from an armed attack from any source for any reason.
Rationale 2. To stop an attack by one or more persons during a terrorist event.

Answer 1. The chances of an armed attack taking place against an openly armed target is nearly zero.
Answer 2. A potential terrorist is very unlikely to conduct a attack against an openly armed group.

Question: Given the above scenarios why do CCW advocates insist on total privacy from the press and police departments concerning the names of permit holders?

Answer: The privacy rules certainly don't add to the deterrence factor.

Silence is Acquiescence

Quote from Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) was a prominent Protestant pastor who emerged as an outspoken public foe of Adolf Hitler and spent the last seven years of Nazi rule in concentration camps.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”
