With minor
exceptions Ohio law allows any citizen to openly carry a gun, so why
the political pressure for conceal carry (CCW) laws?
Rationale 1. To
protect a law abiding citizen from an armed attack from any source
for any reason.
Rationale 2. To stop
an attack by one or more persons during a terrorist event.
Answer 1. The
chances of an armed attack taking place against an openly armed
target is nearly zero.
Answer 2. A
potential terrorist is very unlikely to conduct a attack against an
openly armed group.
Question: Given the
above scenarios why do CCW advocates insist on total privacy from the
press and police departments concerning the names of permit holders?
Answer: The privacy
rules certainly don't add to the deterrence factor.
