The latest annexation by Wilmington of the 200 acres Williams property fronting on Rombach Ave. and Davids Dr. is another case of the city paying Union township for the privilege of taking over the responsibility for maintaining infrastructure, and fire protection. To date and in the future tens of thousands of dollars have and will flow into township coffers. The city is, in effect, bribing the trustees to agree to allow a transfer of jurisdiction. An action that, if tested, need not be taken. One day in the not too distant future Union township will consist of little more a very rich small enclave on the edge of the city.
