Under Ohio Governor
Kasich's tax plan, small retail business owners need the tax cut on
the back end to compensate for the tax increase on sales on the
front end that actually raise the prices of goods. This tax increase
on local retailers is further exacerbated by the refusal of state
lawmakers to require that e commerce companies, such as Amazon,
collect Ohio sales taxes at the time of sale. Adding insult to retail
injury, the proposed Commercial Activity Tax (CAT) increase will cost
scores of local businesses including car dealers, rental property
owners and others.
Dude, there ain't no
free lunch!
